HAIR CARE
It's no secret that your new locks are going to need some love daily!
Keep your SecretLayers Hair glowing with our go to tips for Hair Extension After Care!
-
Do not wash your hair for at least 48 hours after the initial application. This will allow the bonds to set and avoid any extensions from slipping out.
-
It's normal to feel a little tenderness on your scalp after the installation of your extensions. This will settle after 3-5 days. If you are still experiencing discomfort after this time, inform Secret Layers and removal of the irritating bonds can be done.
-
Wash your hair 2-3 times max a week. Over washing will leave your hair looking dry over time.
-
Brush in the morning, before bed and before washing to ensure there are no natural occurring tangles.
-
Always use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. Sulfate's strip the hair of its natural oils which can leave the hair looking dry and unhealthy.
-
When shampooing, make sure to wash in between the bonds to keep the scalp clean and free from bacteria. Apply conditioner to mids and ends only. Conditioning near the roots will result in the bonds slipping.
-
Make sure hair is 100% dry before bed. Never go to sleep with your hair wet to avoid matting.
-
Always blow-dry before brushing. You never want to brush your hair while it's wet. That is when the hair follicles are the most vulnerable.
-
For long lasting hair extensions, moisturize your hair as you do your skin. It makes perfect sense. There are no natural oils flowing directly from your scalp to the strands of your hair extensions.
-
Sleep with your hair in a low braid or low ponytail to keep all hair flowing in the same direction. This will avoid tangling and the cuticles from rubbing together.
-
Avoid the amount of heat / chemicals you're applying to the hair to allow for max lifespan of your SecretLayers Hair.
-
If your extensions are looking tired, you can help bring them back to life by treating them. Treatments can be used on your extensions to nourish and revitalize dry hair.
